Hade Edge School Governors

Chair of Governors - Erica Kemp

I chose Hade Edge School for my children as from our first visit I fell in love with its happy, friendly culture and inclusive and enthusiastic approach to teaching.  I feel very privileged to have been able to support the school as a parent governor since 2014 and as Chair of Governors since 2016.

My day job as a board director in the environment sector has enabled me to develop skills in governance, leadership and development that I believe add value to the governing body. I also support David, our vice chair on the finance committee and take lead responsibility for Health and Safety and Looked After Children.

Vice Chair - David Craggs

I have lived in the village since 2003 and value the views, facilities and community I feel lucky to be part of.  I have worked as a senior leader in financial services for many years and have gained experience that I believe is useful to the running of the school.  I chair the Finance Committee, take lead responsibility for Safeguarding, and support Erica as Vice Chair.

Regards,

David

Parent Governor - Nicola Hemmings

I'm mum to Alice and Emma, who joined Hade Edge School in 2021. My girls love coming to school and I have been impressed and reassured by the positive, inclusive environment they enjoy here. I am delighted to be able to contribute to the school's progress as a Parent Governor.

I have worked for over a decade as a university researcher and lecturer in biosciences, leading a scientific research team and directing a major centre for equity and inclusion in higher education. My job has equipped me with a range of experience and skills that I believe are useful for school governance, including project management, data analysis, and leadership. I also have a long-standing interest in enhancing the science curriculum, and have worked with several schools across Yorkshire to support and enrich science provision.

Parent Governor - Rachael Giles

Hello. I’m Rachael, a secondary school French and German teacher for 13 years, and mum to Lucie and Emily. Originally from a small town near Hull, I moved here when I met my husband, Chris. We have lived in Hade Edge since 2011.

When our children were born, as a full-time mum, I ran our village play group for 4 years. When my children started at our school, I joined the FOHE team of volunteers, and this has enabled me find out so much about the school fundraising plans and get involved in events.

I love my role as Parent Governor.

Parent Governor - Cathryn Kenyon

I’m Cathy, I moved to the Hade Edge area in 2017.

After looking around this wonderful, warm, welcoming school, even before my daughter attended the nursery I was convinced that being part of the governor team and working with the school was for me.

Ensuring the best possible education and school experience for all children is my main focus.

Having worked extensively in management and customer service, I know it’s important to be empathetic, respectful, open and accountable.

Now busy running my own growing business I’m more keen than ever to ensure all children are nurtured to be the best version of themselves.

Parent Governor - Jillian Davidson

I'm Jill and I moved to Hade Edge with my husband and son in 2021. One of the main reasons we chose Hade Edge as a place to settle was the school. I felt the sense of community and friendly, inclusive approach made a place where my son could flourish.

I worked for 15 years in teacher training and educational management for the British Council in Eastern Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. I would like to be able to use this experience working in a very progressive field of education to help contribute to the continued success and development of Hade Edge school.
