What is the Rural Place Partnership Project?

Our school is currently part of a project called the Rural Place Partnership Project with Northorpe Hall Child and Family Trust.

The aims of the project include:

  • Supporting schools, parents and community organisations to understand mental health and wellbeing issues faced by children, young people and families.
  • Providing schools and families with tools, resources, skills and networks to take a more preventative approach and ensure early intervention, help and support.

Link Worker - Dawn Kershaw

As part of the Project, our school is supported by link worker - Dawn Kershaw.

Hi my name is Dawn Kershaw and I am the Rural Education Link Worker from Northorpe Hall, the Charity supporting children and their families with mentaland emotional health in Kirklees.
My role is to support and work with schools in the Holmfirth Family Hub and
the Holme Valley North Hub to develop and implement a whole school
approach to Mental Health and Wellbeing. We aim to help reduce stigma
while encouraging open conversations, provide support and guidance to help
people feel more confident in talking about and managing Mental Health
issues and help promote the positivity around good self care.
I have been working with the amazing team at Hade Edge school to ensure the whole school community are included on this journey – Children,
parents/carers, staff and the wider community. As part of my remit I can
deliver staff training, provide parent and pupil workshops, help set up and
train pupil Wellbeing Champions, create and provide resources and policies
and generally support to further enhance the wonderful positive, caring ethos
and environment within the school. We would love to hear from anyone with
ideas to help with this and I will hopefully meet some of you at events at the
school in the future.
Many thanks for your support.
