Our Curriculum

At Hade Edge School we believe strongly in equipping our childen with the necessary skills to support them to be emotionally resilient.

The PSHE Association states:

"What we teach in the classroom will help our pupils foster lifelong aspirations, goals and values.

With this in mind, PSHE education isn’t just another school subject. It’s a chance to give every child and young person an equal opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge they need to thrive now and in the future.

This includes helping them to deal with critical issues they face every day such as friendships, emotional wellbeing and change. And giving them a solid foundation for whatever challenging opportunities lie ahead, so they can face a world full of uncertainty with hope.

From making informed decisions about alcohol to succeeding in their first job, PSHE education helps pupils prepare for all the opportunities, challenges, life decisions and responsibilities they'll face."

After consultation with parents, Hade Edge School took the decision to invest in the "SCARF" scheme which is based on the PSHE Association Programme of Study.

SCARF – Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience, Friendship

SCARF's whole-school approach supports primary schools in promoting positive behaviour, mental health, wellbeing, resilience and achievement.  More than just a PSHE scheme of work, SCARF supports great learning every day. SCARF represents our values for children of Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience and Friendship.

Meeting all DfE requirements for statutory Relationships and Health Education, and mapped to the PSHE Association's Programme of Study, SCARF is a framework consisting of lesson plans, online planning and assessment for teachers to embed a comprehensive Relationships and Health Education, PSHE Education and Wellbeing programme throughout the primary years.
